Sublime Text, Not So Sublime Colors

Sublime Text is a new text editor for coding. If you use it correctly, you can even fix the foreground and background colors on your website!

The Problem: Undefined background and foreground colors across the site.
The Fix: Pop open your new fancy text editor and open the sublime.css file and add color: #000; background-color: #fff; to the body selector. Save the file. Done.

Artists Should Learn CSS, Too

If you are a CPA and your site’s colors are undefined, I’m not likely to care. However, if you are an artist or designer or web professional, then you should pay more attention to your site’s design and CSS. I love Neill Cameron’s A-Z of Awesomeness, but the site needs some defined colors.

The Problem: Undefined background and foreground colors. I’m using my "Joker" color theme these days, to show the lovely purple and green.
The Fix: Getting a little tired of this part, since the fix is almost always the same thing: adding background-color: #fff; color: #000; to the body selector in the CSS. This site is no different.

Salt Lake Tribune Needs Some Colors

I guess all the western sun fried the designer/developer brains at the Salt Lake Tribune.

The Problem: Undefined background color, though also missing a foreground color in the comments section.
The Fix: Adding background-color: #fff; color: #000; to the body selector in this file: http://extras.mnginteractive.com/live/css/MNGiDefaultStyles.css. Also, to fix the comment, a color: #000 should be added to the cmtComment class.

Web Designer Help Needs Help

Sometimes, the posts just write themselves. There is one thing worse than designers who don’t define their colors: sites that purpose to help you be a web designer, like today’s offender, Web Designer Help.

YouTube, Noooooo!

YouTube has fixed their background color problem, but their text color problems persist.

YouTube’s site used to be correct, but I guess Google’s lack of consistent colors is infecting them. A couple of days ago, their background and text colors were fine. Today, they are undefined.

Wacom: Nice Tools, Bad Colors

The Wacom products page needs some adjusting. I always enjoy seeing sites that cater to professionals in the design, art and web development world making these mistakes.

The Fix: Adding color: #000; to body selector in the style.css file. Also, since there’s an embedded frame, they also need to add background-color: #fff; color: #000; to tabs.css.

Boing Boing Offworld Has A Color Problem

Boing Boing finally took a break from steampunk ukeleles and fixed the text color.

Boing Boing: Offworld is just a tad difficult to read, since they’ve neglected to define their text color.

Reddit.com’s Lack of Text Color Makes Articles Hard to Read

Reddit.com’s comment system is hard to read, since they omitted to define their text color. I also picked an amusing example: "If you’re a web designer working alongside print designers with little to no web design/dev knowledge, how is your experience?" My experience is that web designers should know enough to define their text colors.

Geeks of Colorblind Doom!

I love Geeks of Doom, but they really need to define their colors.

The Problem: Pages on the site are missing both background and text colors. It’s fairly obvious that the template was designed for a white background.

Splicetoday.com is Splicing My Eyes! Make it Stop!

And it appears that their web developer got the message, since the site is now fixed.

SpliceToday.com has a ton of colors on their homepage, but they’ve forgotten to define a couple of other colors.

The Problem: The homepage is missing a background color, but the articles are missing both background and text colors. The graphics assume a white background, and you can never go wrong with black as a text color.
The Fix: Adding background-color: #fff; color: #000; to the splicetoday.css file.
